How does Robin work?

Our cutting-edge technology, the Robin Assistant™ sits in the exam room to accurately capture the information from the doctor-patient visit. Trained, HIPAA-compliant Robin scribes aggregate this with data from the electronic medical record (EMR) and other third-party sources to create a complete SOAP note. The note contains fully justified codes and documentation that meets complex insurance, compliance and liability requirements.

How is Robin making healthcare better?

We’re helping doctors spend more quality time with their patients. We’ve all had the experience of talking to our doctor’s back as they furiously type notes. There’s no eye contact and the subtle, non-verbal cues that build trust are lost. With your help, Robin takes care of the backend administrative burden so doctors can fully focus on their patients.

Why work with us?

Have you ever felt let down by our healthcare system? (An understatement?) Us too. Our story is everyone’s story. This collective, first-hand experience of not always getting what we and our loved ones need to be healthy is the very thing that brings us together and drives us to make a difference. We’re a team of smart, passionate thinkers, tinkerers, risk-takers, creators, problem-solvers and dreamers working remotely from all over the world in the pursuit of health without barriers. As disruptors by nature, we ask lots of questions and welcome healthy debate. We’re also exceedingly nice. Even when we disagree, we do it with respect. We are Robin and we’re here to change healthcare in a big way for the better, together. For more about our values and culture, visit the careers page below.

How does your work impact doctors?

Your valuable contribution saves clinicians an average of 60 minutes each clinic. This means they can spend more time with patients and also eliminates the need for late night charting—so they can spend more time with their families. Scribing for Robin means creating a good work-life balance for you and for clinicians, too.

What do we mean by a predictable schedule?

Your scribe schedule is intentionally designed to provide coverage in a way that supports our doctors on a national level. While we do our best to support education and family life, we also expect our scribes to be on time for every shift. (Your supervisor will help cover your shifts if you’re ever sick or have an emergency.) Once we pair you with a clinician, we try to avoid schedule changes for the first 90 days to help build trust and consistency.

How long are scribe shifts?

We’ve designed each scribe shift to last 7–8 hours per day, but some shifts can be shorter depending on doctor needs. You must be available to work 40 hours a week. This ensures you get deep exposure to patient encounters and focused time to learn and hone your scribing skills. We put our doctors and patients first and strive for excellence in everything we do—especially the notes and codes we produce.

What can you expect from the training?

Robin scribe training is an immersive and interactive experience, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday for a minimum of two weeks. Our trainers will give you a thorough introduction to medical coding, note creation and scribing best practices, plus lots and lots of practice. You’ll meet and learn alongside your fellow scribes in small groups and work autonomously to complete the program. When you graduate you’ll be able to accurately and efficiently document notes and complete basic medical coding. Our goal is to set you up for success so you can make a positive difference for clinicians and their patients.
